Louise Bell

Discipline: Quiltmaker

I make patchwork and appliqué quilts for  beds, chairs and walls and a wide range of cushions. It is my full time occupation – you are welcome to visit my workshop Monday to Saturday 10 -6. Please contact me just to check that I am about and I will give you directions. I use Liberty lawns for their rich and colourful designs,  American cottons as well as linens and silks. I make quilts covered in wild flowers, all my own designs as well as more traditional stylised designs rooted in a North American tradition.
I enjoy working to commission so customers can have a quilt made in colours of their choice and to whatever size is needed. I can often incorporate memory fabrics in a piece to make the quilt very personal. Subject matter is whatever you'd like! One of my most recent pieces, pictured here, was made to celebrate a wedding in the Australian Alps.
A visit to my workshop makes planning commissions easy but is not essential. Emails and a phone call can work just as well.
