Elizabeth Campbell

Discipline: Jewellery

Elizabeth works mostly with polymer clay which she loves to combine with other materials. She is probably best known for the Japanese-inspired pendants she makes from polymer clay and Japanese fabric cord.  Each pendant is unique, and the pattern on the pendant is created to match and compliment the specific piece of fabric cord that it hangs on.

She also loves to make ornamental objects, especially vessels/containers of different kinds, as these hold a particular fascination for her. By combining polymer clay with other materials such as mulberry paper and papier mache she is able to create forms that she could not make by using polymer clay alone. And her particular interest at the moment is experimenting with more sculptural shapes and forms. She has a fondness for incorporating particular symbols and motifs in her work, and spirals and leaf shapes are often represented.

She thinks of her work as 'an exploration and celebration of shape and colour'.  And her aim is a simple one - to try to create unique, tactile and beautiful pieces that another person may delight in using.
