MONDAY mornings: JEWELLERY INTERMEDIATE+. 10:00 - 12.30. (6 x 2.5-hour sessions) - Starts Mon 20 Feb | Ends Mon 27 Mar 2023. £132

You will already have gained some skills on a previous jewellery course for at least a term.Make jewellery for yourself, or for others, or prepare to take part in a future craft fair! If you wish to work towards starting your own business, your tutor is able to advise on options. Or… Just have fun and experiment! Estimate and source the materials needed for your project(s), and learn how to plan your own jewellery collection. Learn about the legal aspects such as Hallmarking, and Intellectual Property Law.

This course is suitable for beginners and for those who have gained skills in jewellery making. If you are new to making jewellery, you will be shown the basic techniques for designing and making simple jewellery pieces. When you have gained more experience you will be encouraged to develop your own designs and to improve your jewellery and metalsmithing skills by working on new and different techniques.

TUESDAY afternoons: ENAMELLING ALL LEVELS 13:00 - 16:00. (6 x 3-hour sessions) - Starts Tues 21 Feb | Ends Tues 28 Mar 2023. £180

This course is an introduction to enamelling. You will learn a variety of techniques to allow the addition of colour to your jewellery or other projects. Stencils will be used to add pattern to your enamelled designs. Also included is an element of etching and photo-etching.

Together, we will cover the basics of vitreous enamelling. You will learn how to apply enamel to copper shapes, or to a small copper bowl. You will learn how to apply pattern using prepared stencils to create bespoke designs for jewellery, brooches, earrings, buttons, or panels for framing. You will learn about sifting, champlevé, cloisonné, etching, and using pre-prepared and cutting your own stencils for enamelling.
