Palmtop-size (16cm long), rectangular body in blue opal iridescent glass, with a transverse rotating cylinder as the viewing object. The cylinder contains lampworked glass arabesques and dichroic glass shapes drifting in oil, providing a slow-drifting image. The unusual optical system generates a square image against a black background.

About the maker
Frank Higgins runs the UK’s only studio dedicated to the design and creation of “serious” kaleidoscopes, bringing twenty years of experience in glasswork to bear in developing this unique craft. Frank’s work is collected worldwide and won awards at the International exhibition “Kaleidoscopes – 200 years”.
