“St Basil” Kaleidoscope
One of a limited edition of 25 in this design, which is unique in the Kaleidoscope world and won the Brewster Kaleidoscope Society “President’s Award” at the prestigious international exhibition in Washington DC, to mark the 200 th anniversary of the invention of the Kaleidoscope.
In black iridescent glass with patterned dichroic glass arched roof and inset deco, size is 18 x 12 x 7cm approx.. The viewing object is an oil-filled rotating cylinder and the unconventional 6-element mirror system creates a strongly 3-dimensional image, inspired by the onion domes atop St Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow.

About the maker
Frank Higgins runs the UK’s only studio dedicated to the design and creation of “serious” kaleidoscopes, bringing twenty years of experience in glasswork to bear in developing this unique craft. Frank’s work is collected worldwide and won awards at the International exhibition “Kaleidoscopes – 200 years”.
