Still needing to get the beauty of autumn out of my system. This is the third scarf off my current warp of shades of green. It’s threading is a profile draft based on an old colonial overshot pattern. The warp is 2/30s Chinese spun silk which I dyed to several shades of green, mixed across the width. The weft is a 3ply Japanese silk overdyed from pale pink and pale fawn to various autumnal shades.
Care instructions: the scarf can be washed in tepid water with a detergent, (I use shampoo), and is best hung up to dry and then steam pressed to bring out the natural sheen of the silk.

Carolyn is a hand loom weaver working from her home studio in Farnham, specializing in one of a kind scarves in100% spun silk yarn, which produces a soft fabric that drapes beautifully and has a lovely sheen. The silk yarn is dyed by her to the colours desired for the next piece to be woven. She achieves her colours with both synthetic and natural dyes. Inspiration for a design can come from almost anywhere, but especially from nature.
