The first scarf woven on a warp of 5 colour bands, threaded in a 4 block pattern to produce warp and weft faced colour blocks. Both warp and weft are 100% silk and all hand dyed except the black and the red warp. It was wet finished and steam pressed when completed and measures 11” wide by 68” long, plus the tasselled fringe at either end.
Care instructions: the scarf can be washed in tepid water with a detergent, (I use shampoo), and is best hung up to dry and then steam pressed to bring out the natural sheen of the silk.

Carolyn is a hand loom weaver working from her home studio in Farnham, specializing in one of a kind scarves in100% spun silk yarn, which produces a soft fabric that drapes beautifully and has a lovely sheen. The silk yarn is dyed by her to the colours desired for the next piece to be woven. She achieves her colours with both synthetic and natural dyes. Inspiration for a design can come from almost anywhere, but especially from nature.
