The colours and design are intended to imitate certain parts of the wonderful sunrise I photographed from an upstairs window on January 28th this year. The construction is a 2 colour echo weave and, as usual with this type of weave, my images do not show it as it looks in real life, where the blue and yellow of the warp threads are more visible. The yarns are all 30/2s Chinese spun silk, all hand dyed in my workshop. I used onion skins to dye the yellows and synthetic dyes for the other colours. The finished piece measures approximately 11” by 70”, plus the tassels at either end.

Care instructions: the scarf can be washed in tepid water with a detergent, (I use shampoo), and is best hung up to dry and then steam pressed to bring out the natural sheen of the silk.
